Artistic background

Throughout his career as a visual artist, Francisco Morales has explored a wide range of artistic techniques, ranging from drawing, painting, engraving and object art to installation, urban interventions and interventions in spaces. These diverse techniques have greatly enriched his approach to the conceptualisation and execution of projects.

Francisco Morales has distinguished himself by his skilful use of primitive and basic tools in the gestation of his ideas, which has earned him constant recognition. For example, his continuous use of graphite in many of his works, as well as for the creation of extensive series of pen drawings on paper. He is currently engaged in the development of a series of works made with crayons on paper.

Philosophy

Francisco Morales' work philosophy has always been to seek a balance in his proposals, a congruence between the discourse and the object. All his work is based on the generation of atmospheres and is reflected in the setting both in galleries and in open spaces. In his exhibitions, as well as in specific interventions, the elements relate to each other to the point of forming a whole.

"Aesthetics of Rudeness", "Echo of Borders", "Lineaments of Origin", ”Eolic Mantles", ”Panels or lares", are just some of the concepts that underpin the meaning of the works.

In the process of generating an idea, Francisco Morales follows an approach he has termed the "bitácora de la idea" (log book). This approach involves the creation of a central concept that he then explores in depth, breaking down and deconstructing the piece until he reaches a conclusion that he considers the natural limit of the series. A fundamental and recurring aspect of his work is the search for a sincere, transparent and authentic connection between the concept that inspires his work and the resulting piece.
